Gaming is an industry worth over $100 billion, and shows no signs of slowing down. This means developers that release a successful game, can make billions from just one launch. We would like to give a big shoutout to viewer AcE x MACHETE for suggesting this video. --------------------SECOND CHANNEL------------------- Check out my second channel More5! for funny, weird, interesting news, along with the latest trending topics within the YouTube community. Armed with combined powers leading to a number of franchises that made the company one of the major players in the industry. Their most famous franchise, the Call of Duty series, is perhaps one of the most popular games in the world. The other big name by Activision Blizzard is World of Warcraft, the most famous role-playing game. Combine these huge hits and it's no wonder it has a whopping value of $4.85 billion. 4) Sega Probably most famous for Sonic The Hedgehog, Sega has always been a major player. In recent times it's fair to say they have been falling a bit behind, so for game development, Sega is now focused on collaborating with other companies. It is now in partnership with its former competitor Nintendo, and has launched an all new trend of crossover titles, like Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. Sonic is still going strong despite being 24 years old, new installments are always being developed, which gives Sega a value of $4.9 billion. 3) Nintendo Believe it or not Nintendo has been around for 126 years. When the company started in 1889, it sold & produced handmade hanafuda playing cards. As times moved on, they have always been in the forefront of interactive entertainment. Their biggest hit comes in the form of Super Mario, an Italian plumber avoiding mushrooms to save the princess. Although Mario is 30 years old, he's still one of the biggest video game characters. Nintendo also own other huge franchises such as Pokémon & The Legend Of Zelda. When you include the line of consoles Nintendo has produced such as the Nintendo 64, the Gameboy, the Wii & more, its no surprise they are the 3rd richest game company with a value of $6.28 billion. 2) Microsoft Studios Although Microsoft is considered a baby compared to the old timers like Nintendo, they did go in strong & take over the market. Most notably they are the company behind the Xbox consoles. Their most popular game would be the Halo franchise, a first person shooter game which has been a staple of the Xbox since 2001. Microsoft also have the huge PC gamers market, and the not so huge mobile phone platform. Combine everything and it's easy to see why Microsoft Studio's is one of the giants, with a value of $12.82 billion. 1) Sony Computer Entertainment I guess the age old question, PlayStation or Xbox? has been answered. Sony Computer Entertainment, the company behind the PlayStation consoles is the largest video game developer in the industry. With hits such as God of War, the adventure epic based on Greek mythology, with 6 sequels, or Gran Turismo, a grand touring style racing game, which is the best-selling franchise by the company, since 1997. These are just two of the names among many more that have made Sony Computer Entertainment worth $13.4 billion. Some people dream of becoming a game developer. And I include myself in this statistic. For a long time, I've dreamed of becoming and working with game development. For those who don't know, Video game development is the process of creating a video game. Development is undertaken by a game developer, which may range from one person to a large business. But... Is this a viable career path? Can you actually make money by becoming a game developer? Is the competition high? What should you do in order to become a game developer? How should you start? I got this question and it says, "Hi John, how's it going? I'm a 19-year-old college student and I'm interested in the gaming industry mostly in programming. I've been doing some basic tutorials for different game engines and languages and I'm not really sure what to do about school. I've been doubting that a degree would be good for me. I recently found block.io and it looks interesting. The android developer option looks cool and it's shorter and less expensive than others. There seems to be lots of boot camps or web development and software engineering but none for game development like working on a PC or consul games either making your own or working with other people. Do you have any advice? Is software engineering and web development a good thing to look into even though it doesn't seem as interesting right now? Thanks for your time." This is sort of a tough one, right? I mean game development is difficult to get into. Why? Because everyone wants to get in the game development, I mean who wouldn't want to? The only thing I can think of that would be more difficult to get in to besides game development and certain industries, adult industries that we won't name here would probably be game testing. Who wouldn't want to test games, right? But a game developer it's definitely difficult to break into but you can do it and you can go to school for it. I'm going to give you 2 schools that I've always wanted to attend. One of them-I don't know a lot about these schools but I've heard of them and they're game development schools specifically. One of them is DigiPen so check that one out. The other one is here in-near me in Orlando called Full Sail University. I've heard of them. I've heard really good things. In fact, just a few years ago I was tempted to go get a degree from there just because I wanted to go to the school because it seemed like it would be cool. I don't know of any boot camps that would actually do game development and I don't know if you really want to. I think if you wanted-I think game development is in depth enough and that you need enough connections that you probably want to go to school to do that. Watch this video and find out. Catch me live at http://twitch.tv/Shafournee ! I stream every Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday from 7pm - 11pm EST! EDIT: Thanks to everyone who has watched, commented, and followed so far! It means a lot! You guys are awesome! Click "see more" for an explanation on how the developers did this. Some people seem confused as to how the developers could've modified the game in the way they did, so I'll try to give a run down of how it worked. Clustertruck has Twitch integration, which is why that bar appears at the top of the stream. Each viewer can vote on one of three options, and one of those options gets picked randomly. Basically, all the game does is look at the Twitch chat, and knows to detect certain words or phrases, and that's why people are able to vote and their votes get detected. So when the developers joined the stream they began typing specific commands in the chat, like commands that turned the truck purple, or changed the gravity. These commands were only used by the developer, and I'd assume they did that by simply telling the code to only acknowledge those lines in Twitch chat if it came from that specific account. I hope that helps clear up some of the confusion. Buy the game here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/397950/ I also upload all my stream playthroughs on this channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQIiJglLByVw4NzPELWFyJw/featured?spfreload=5?&ab_channel=ShafourneeStreams Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/shafournee Discord: https://discord.gg/VwNjAbW Twitter: https://twitter.com/ShafourneeTV

In this week's indie game devlog video, I go on to do a bit of work on the dialogue system, polishing it, and making the interactions seem more intuitive and easy to understand. Closeups on the talking character was one of the most efficient methods that I have done.
